Translation of the Relics of St Ignatius

Writing this, I am alive, but my desire is for death. My love is crucified; there is in me no burning desire, only the living waters which speak in me, saying in me, Come to the Father. I take no pleasure in the food of corruption, nor in the pleasures of this life.

I desire the bread of God, which is the flesh of Jesus Christ, of the seed of David; and the drink I long for is His blood, which is incorruptible love.

St Ignatius the Godbearer
Ad Romanus
